While resting the ears before I start the mastering process of "THE LIGHT" I would like you know that I think the ultimate tool to create music for me is Propellerheads Reason 4.
From the first version on nearly 10 years ago I use this software despite it's poor midi-sequencer. The "limitations" make it much more of an instrumental instrument rather then a SOFTWARE. You can not play piano on a trumpet, but you learn to use characteristics of each of the instruments and melt them with one another. Limitation is the tool to creativ freedom. Ok. I raised my self musicaly under the influence of Kraftwerk, TD, Klaus Schulze, Michael Rother, JMJ, Michael Garisson. On the other hand I was listening to such extrems as Bluegrass (Earl Sruggs,Doc Watson) Gordon Lightfoot on one hand and Indian Ragas (Call of the valley, Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussein, Trilok Gurtu etc.) on the other hand.
What they do have in common is rythmic structures woven in to melodies (listen to 5-string banjo, indian tabla, santoor).
