The new mix of the eleven light beams

Yesterday I was listing over and over to th 11 songs and decided to work on them  again...mixing each of them  differently and to what I think for the benefit of the songs. The first mix I will uplpoad to the podshow he next fiew days...depending on the "SPEED" of the internet. The final version of "LIGHT" will then be available exclusivly in London and of course available as download on my by then finished web-site.

Song number 11 finally went into the mastering process. I burnt a CD and listen to the songs in the car. The order of the songs is not quiet clear yet...guess it will come naturaly.
One song already has been played on the net by Steve.

Songs #9&10

The songs #9&10 are ready to be mastered today. The song I "discovered" last week is going through a dramitic change.. which is good and it tells me to leave songs, forget about them, listen to them again and then start to learn new things about the aspects of this song and make it then your own.
Propellerheads Reason 4 is for this kind of "experiments" the perfect "Instrument".

Progress

The mastering-process is slowly shaping the overall soundscape of "Light". I found an untiteled song that I have decided to work on, arrange and master it tonight and then it will be song number 8 that will make it onto the album. On the weekend I put some samples of the songs so fare on the internet.

The Reason for music

While resting the ears before I start the mastering process of "THE LIGHT" I would like you know that I think the ultimate tool to create music for me is  Propellerheads Reason 4.

From the first version on nearly 10 years ago I use this software despite it's poor midi-sequencer. The "limitations" make it much more of an instrumental instrument rather then a SOFTWARE. You can not play piano on a trumpet, but you learn to use characteristics of each of the instruments and melt them with one another. Limitation is the tool to creativ freedom. Ok. I raised my self  musicaly under the influence of Kraftwerk, TD, Klaus Schulze, Michael Rother, JMJ, Michael Garisson. On the other hand I was listening to such extrems as Bluegrass (Earl Sruggs,Doc Watson) Gordon Lightfoot on one hand and Indian Ragas (Call of the valley, Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussein, Trilok Gurtu etc.) on the other hand.

What they do have in common is rythmic structures woven in to melodies (listen to 5-string banjo, indian tabla, santoor).
